Luggage storage at Roma Termini station
We are at Via Marghera 47d, about 560 metres from the Via Marsala exit: a seven-minute walk with a suitcase in tow. Automated lockers, open 24 hours a day, that you open yourself with a code.
Where you can leave luggage at Termini
There are three options at Roma Termini, and the differences are worth knowing. Inside the station there is the official left-luggage office on Via Giolitti: staffed, but with limited hours and often a queue, especially in the morning and early afternoon.
Around the station there are several staffed storage points: you hand your suitcase to an attendant and collect it when you come back. They work, but you depend on their hours and on the wait at the counter.
The third option is automated lockers, which is what we do: no counter, no attendant, no queue. You book from your phone, walk up, type the code and the locker opens. At three in the morning it works exactly as it does at midday.
Which exit to take
Termini is large and its exits are far apart: from the wrong one, the same walk becomes twenty-five minutes. The exit you want is Via Marsala, the north side of the station, where the high-numbered platforms are.
From there carry on along Via Marsala and turn into Via Marghera: we are at number 47d. About seven minutes in all, flat and on pavement, so wheeled cases are no trouble.
Hours: always open
The lockers are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, holidays included. This is not a long-opening-hours claim: there is simply nobody to wait for. The system is automated and your code works at any hour.
That is the difference that counts when you arrive on a night train at five in the morning, or leave your hotel at four for an evening flight.
What it costs
You pay by the hour, with a daily cap: small locker from €1.10/hour up to €13.00 a day, large locker from €1.80/hour up to €18.00 a day. Past the cap, the day costs no more.
Stay three hours and you pay three hours, not a whole day. That is why hourly pricing suits anyone with an afternoon to fill between check-out and a train.
What you need to use it
No ID is required and there is no account to create. You book online, pay by card and the opening code arrives by email: the same code lets you drop off and collect.
The premises are covered by several cameras, 24 hours a day, and stored luggage is insured.
